Thanks for all your support in these first few months of my Substack! We’ve now reached the very last hand I’ll be reviewing from 2022—and oh is it a doozy.
In the same online Ring event from my last post, I was now just three or four players away from the money.
From the hijack, I opened for a min-raise from a 28 BB stack with 5d5s. The button and big blind called. They both had me covered by more than a little.
The flop came QdJc9h and it checked around.
The turn brought the 6h and the big blind checked again. With the button having checked back the flop, and the big blind now checking the turn, I decided to take a swing and bet 10,000 into the 22,500 pot. I could’ve easily had AA or KK here, and probably even AQ or KQ, so I felt it was a reasonable spot to bet.
The button called instantly. The big blind folded.
The river came…5c! There was 42,500 in the pot and I had 66,971 in my stack. What’s your plan?
